Simply Written Responding Through Pictures consists of 32 pages. It's a response journal for students in kindergarten and first grade as well as special education students who have difficulty with writing but can respond to literature through the use of pictures or simple sentences.
It consists of 15 graphic organizers that focus on characters, setting, problem, beginning, middle and end, sequencing and much, much more. Each organizer is followed by a drawing page that
relates to a specific story element or skill. On the inside front cover is a Rubric For Illustrations and three examples of pictures. Using the rubric, each drawing page can be scored by a classmate and classroom teacher. Also included is a page, About The Illustrator.
The journals can be used independently, in a small reading group or during READER'S WORKSHOP! It's a journal that will show the progress of students' illustrations. What a great tool to use for DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION!
