When pictures don't help
You should use
Another strategy
There’s nothing to lose!
Get your mouth ready
Make the first sound
Put the sounds together
Like G-R-OU-N-D!
If sounding out fails
Look for a chunk
That’s finding a word part
Like “sun” in the word “sunk!”
There's a fourth strategy
Try not to pout
Skip the word and read on
Then figure it out!
